TAIWANESE BANK DEMANDS REPAYMENT OF US$25 MILLION LOAN

In a letter sent to Grenada’s Finance Minister, Hon. Nazim Burk, the Export-Import Bank of the Republic of China on Taiwan has demanded immediate repayment of approximately US$25 Million loan given to the Grenada Government under previous administrations. The loans contracted by the Grenada Government were spread out over an 11 year period: US$10 M in 1990, US$8 M in 1997 and US$10 M in 2001. Two separate loans were secured in 1997 (US$2 M and US$6 M). The Export-Import Bank signaled its strong intentions to move ahead very aggressively towards enforcing the judgment against Grenada (obtained in March 2007) within the United States and throughout the world following the failure of the Grenada Government to service the loans. Grenada at one time had cordial diplomatic relations with Taiwan but the relationship was seriously strained in later years and was finally severed in 2005 after which Grenada re-established diplomatic relations with the Peoples’ Republic of China (PRC). The Grenada Government is believed to be presently seeking the expert services of a legal consul in New York to assist the country in dealing with this current legal and financial quagmire. The current national debt is believed to be somewhere in the region of 2 billion dollars and with the Grenadian economy reeling from the effects of a global economic recession, the obvious demands on the present administration to meet the country’s financial commitments and obligations to all parties concerned will no doubt continue to pose serious challenges for the Tillman Thomas led National Democratic Congress.

My fellow Web surfers like Mr Little boy and others just to let you guys know that i am ok still going strong and reading some of the good stories coming our brother KCM and his gang from NEWYORK telling thoes newyorkers what a blessed man and government they were and how ungreatful our people are for kicking them out of office, so it seems that our people have made a big mistake in kicking his gang out and putting TT and his gang in plus he and his team of three was outlining all the nice things his goivernment had done for our people and our country only for T T and his gang to undone, yes they are telling newyorkers all this but you bet he never mention to them about all the missing millions of dollars and the biggest balance of payment left behind by his out going government which would leave our country deeper in debt, yes they had a party alright on the back of our good people the same people who kept them in office for thirteen years so you see brother little boy i man still dey and standing firm and i say this Mr KCM and his gang they should be in jail ,but i am praying that the good lord will judge them when the time comes. one love grenada

You are correct Littleboy. This Piece of Garbage the Stadium Keith Mitchel wasted time and money in building should actually be sold and the funds should be used to pay off Taiwan. Its too sad Keith Mitchel could not be also sold with the Package.

Former Finance Minister Anthony Boatswain must think everyone is a jackass and he is the only ass with any sense. He says Tillnam goverment has to share some responsibility for part of that loan. Yeah we realize that the new Administration has to come up with the cash-when I borrow I must pay back-however,they are the ones who put this Caribbean Nation in the fine mess now with their extravagance and total waste. Maybe we should see the dam stadium to some country and pay back the loan. I wish we could take it out of the past administration's bank accounts instead of the taxes of Grenadian people.

The vision of that other airport was by Eric Matthew Gairy first. He wanted it to be placed in the LaBay area as he said everything was in town, then there was some discreptancy with land in the Conference area, buut that was Gairy's idea first. Did you read the other article I sent you.
