2705 STUDENTS TO WRITE COMMON ENTRANCE EXAM TODAY
Two thousand seven hundred and five (2,075) primary school students from throughout the tri-island state will today write the Common Entrance Examination with the intention of securing a space in one of the secondary schools in the country from September 2009. This total comprises of 1,438 male students and 1,267 females from 73 primary schools. The exams will be conducted in 53 centers throughout the island. In recent times, the criteria used to select students for attending secondary school have come under some severe criticism. Apart from performing creditable in the Common Entrance Exam, students from primary schools who would have attained a certain age are automatically sent to secondary school as part of the Universal Education thrust. Some of these students lack the requisite skills and background knowledge to effectively function at the secondary school level where quite a lot of emphasis is placed on academic learning.

Yes, it is beneficial to the developing fetus to be properly norished, but the average Grenadian mother-to-be ate what she had or because during pregnancy her diet may have changed.I know of mothers who did not have much to feed themselves and their children, sometime the mother would feed the children and the ate what is left in the bottom of the pot. Some of these same children went on to be lawyers, doctors, headmasters Dentist. Children can learn they have to be encouraged, and nurtured, and given a chance.I agree that the right foundation is very important, they have to be prepared for high school. So are you saying mechanics, carpenters, mason, plumers, don't have much interlect? These professions are not always given the respect they deserve. Do you know how much these people get paid? Some people may choose these profession because that might be their passion not because they are not intelligent.

Some children just cannot do maths ,english and so on because during conception and the foetus stage they did not get what you will call BRAIN FOOD.They will never be academically bright but I am sure they are capably of being a mechanic,a mason,a capenter,or a plumber,so why subjects these children to this kind of torture especially when these teachers are not capable of handling those children. There are other form of Secondary education such as Technical school, culinary arts.
