ST. GEORGE’S - MONDAY, 18TH MAY, 2009 – The National Lotteries Authority (NLA) proudly announces its customer-winnings for the month of April 2009 to the tune of Three Hundred and Twenty-Nine Thousand, Eighty-Eight Eastern Caribbean Dollars and Eighty-Nine Cents (EC$329,088.89), involving its four (4) current games, namely: Lotto, Super 6, Daily Pick 3 and Scratch. According to the April records of the NLA, Super 6 payouts amassed to EC$127,840.84; Lotto winnings summed up to EC$31,512.05; Daily Pick 3 totaled EC$117,655.00 and the instant Scratch games closed the month at EC$52,081.00. Among the big winnings of April is a St. Lucian who won the Super 6 jackpot of EC$270,000.00; Ms. Sharlene Pierre of Darbeau, St. George’s and Mr. Anthony Pierre who won EC$10,950.00 and EC$5,450.00 respectively playing Daily Pick 3; and Ms. Miriam Fleming of Mt. Reuil, St. Patrick’s who won EC$10,000.00 in Scratch. In addition to these winnings, the Authority continues to live up to its mandate and has already contributed Three Hundred and Thirty-Six Thousand, One Hundred and Eight Eastern Caribbean Dollars (EC$336,108.00) in sponsorships and donations during the first four (4) months of 2009. Speaking at the handing over of a Super 6 jackpot of EC$225,000.00 won by Grenadian Curlon Andrew - a senior citizen of Morne Jaloux, in St. George’s, Mr. Andrew stated that he has been playing the Lottery Games from inception - twenty-six (26) years ago; and is elated to have won the Super 6 jackpot on his birthday which was February 27th, 2009, making his dreams come true. His plans are to give a portion of his winnings to the church; give his family members “a start”; reconstruct his house; and to “put away some for rainy days”. According to Ms. Reece Sam, Marketing/Business Development Manager, “evidently, the National Lotteries Authority can safely be described as the institution that puts the extra cash in the pockets of many Grenadians on a daily, weekly or monthly basis for as little as one to two dollars ($1-$2) a game. The times are hard; and, it is why we as a Grenadians need to support who supports us.” Ms. Sam was adamant in her conviction, saying, “We need to support local. To play the games of the National Lotteries Authority is to give yourself the opportunity to win like many others have and continue to; and, in turn, support our sports, our culture and the building of our nation.”
