TURF WICKET BEING CONSTRUCTED AT CARRIACOU MINI-STADIUM...

More cricket matches can soon be played in Carriacou as the Division of Sports within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs is now in the process of constructing a turf wicket on the grounds of the mini-stadium in Lauriston. According to Sports Officer Joel Lendore the construction of this wicket will boost the sport, as it should lead to greater involvement by young people and the island can now benefit from some of the invitational games from international teams. Lendore added that he is also looking forward to hosting the final of the Republic Bank Cricket Tournament there on June 21st. Michael Smith from Grenada is overseeing the construction of the new wicket. He is assisted by three persons from Carriacou. From Deanna Isaac
