GRENADA NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM PREPARES FOR 2009 CONCAC...
The Grenada National Football Team is continuing its preparations for the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup to be staged in the United States next month. The team will also host Panama in an international friendly on Wednesday at the Football Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. Panama was beaten 3-2 by Jamaica on Sunday night at the National Stadium in Kingston. (PANAMA ARRIVES IN GRENADA ON MONDAY NIGHT) It's the first time that Grenada will be participating in the Gold Cup Tournament. The players have been training almost daily under coach Tommy Taylor and his local staff. Please give the team and its preparations the necessary support as you do with the NBA and other international sports - as part of your sports coverage. It's difficult to show up on Match Day and expect to do a good job if you don't familarise yourself with the players and officials during the various training sessions. Our national associations may have their problems but our job of reporting goes far beyond their internal issues. UPDATE: FRIENDLY: Grenada vs Panama at the National Stadium on Wednesday June 10 at 7:00 p.m. FIRST ROUND Gold Cup: Grenada vs USA at Qwest Field, Seattle on Saturday July 4 at 9:00 p.m. Gold Cup: Grenada vs Haiti at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, Washington DC on Wednesday July 8 at 7:00 p.m. Gold Cup: Grenada vs Honduras at Gillette Stadium, Boston on Saturday July 11 at 9:00 p.m. The Quarterfinals begin the following weekend in Philadelphia and Dallas; the Semifinals on July 23 at Soldier Field, Chicago and the Final on July 26 at Giants Stadium in NY/NJ.
