YOUNG PEOPLE IN CARRIACOU & PETITE MARTINIQUE GEARS UP ...  
Hillsborough, June 18 - Young people in Carriacou and Petite Martinique are gearing up for the third seating of the Carriacou & Petite Martinique Youth Parliament which is scheduled to take place at the Carriacou Health Services Conference Centre on June 30th, 2008. The activity organized by the Division of Youth Empowerment within the Ministry of Carriacou & Petite Martinique Affairs will commence at 4:15pm with a drum salute and fanfare by the island Drum Corp together with the arrival of the dignitaries. The Parliamentarians who have been engaged in practice sessions will be debating the topic: “Where as there is an increase in violence and drug use among young people and their involvement in adult activities, and Where as statistics reveal that a large number of underage persons attend night time functions that are not suitable for their development and Where as there is an urgent need to promote higher moral values among young people, Be it Therefore Resolved that persons under the age of eighteen should be subjected to night time curfew as a means of reducing crime.” Minister for Carriacou & Petite Martinique Affairs, Sen. Hon. George Prime along with Minister for Youth Empowerment, Sports & Culture Hon. Patrick Simmons are expected to be there.
