HEALTH OFFICIALS MAINTAIN VIGILANCE TO PROTECT CITIZENS...
St. George’s, June 23, 2009, (GIS) - Health officials are continuing their vigilance to ensure that Grenada remains free of the H1N1 virus or Swine Flu. The latest effort of Health Ministry representatives is to implement a screening and clearance unit at the Grenada Yacht club. The unit will ensure screening of yachtsmen upon arrival on the island before disembarking at the nation’s ports, marinas or beaches. The Ministry of Health promises strict enforcement of the measures to achieve the desired result of preventing the entry and spread of Swine Flu in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. However, it said the cooperation of the Grenadian public is imperative if the new initiative is to be successful. As a result, the Health Ministry is appealing to members of the public to report what it describes as "any unlawful berthing and landing.'' Reports can be made to the ministry, as well as to the Immigration Department or at any police station.
