MEDIA WORKERS WEEL OF ACTIVITIES COMES TO AN END
The Media Workers Association of Grenada would like to express gratitude to all media houses and individual practitioners who contributed to and participated in the various activities staged as part of the just ended 17th observance of media week. MWAG would like to place on record our appreciation for the tremendous show of support and would like to further encourage practitioners to continue to demonstrate similar interest in the advancement of the profession. We extend heartfelt gratitude to the Birch Grove community, congregation, choir and Father Chiddi of the St. Mathew’s R.C. church for embracing our membership in the way they did during our church service to start the week. We are particularly delighted that senior members of the profession the likes, of Josephine McGuire, Trevor Thwaites and George Grant came forward to set examples by participating in some of the media awareness talk shows and school visits to share information on the role of the media in society. Special mention must be made of the Government Information Service, Grenada Broadcasting Network, Grenadian Voice, Flow, the United States Embassy and the Marketing and National Importing Board and other media workers for contributing to a donation of food items, fruits and vegetables to this year’s beneficiary, The Cedars Home for Battered Women. To all the young journalists who turned out to last Saturday’s session on the art of news reading, we do encourage you to continue practicing the techniques discussed. The executive would also like to thank Rae Roberts , Leslie Ann Johnson and Tony Julian for the role they played in helping to facilitate the session. Overall, we continue to urge media workers in Grenada to come forward and participate in the activities of the association whether it’s social activities or serious workshops. This year’s media week was held under the theme “Media Workers Challenge to Engage in more Research, Dialogue, and Investigation to Communicate”. Press release from MWAG
