FORMER HEALTH MINISTER DISPLEASED WITH GOVERNMENT HANDL...
ST. GEORGE’S: Former Minister for Health Mrs. Ann David-Antoine, is expressing disappointment and shock at the way the NDC administration has handled the World Bank project for the construction of the Gouyave Medical Centre. She said despite the commitment given by the new Minister, that the facility will be completed in less than a year, the Government has failed to deliver on this promise and has now lost millions of dollars in funding for the project. Mrs. Antoine noted that the NDC, while in opposition, had harshly criticized the NNP administration for not starting the project in a timely manner although lots of preparatory work had started and the actual construction was scheduled to start in August 2008. The former Minister says that the new administration had sufficient time to build the new Health Centre but their focus and priority was placed on verbally attacking the former administration, firing staff, condemning the new hospital and other achievements of the NNP administration. Mrs. Antoine says her heart goes out to the many residents of Gouyave and the surrounding areas for the painful experiences that they now have to access basic health services. She says after one year in office, she is calling on the Government to take immediate actions to ease the burden placed on these persons who now have to travel to Grand Roy and Florida to access health services. The former Minister also calls on the NDC Government to start delivering on the many health related promises made to the people of Grenada during the campaign leading up to the 2008 general elections. Ms Antoine as a former minister for health in the last NNP government i am suprised at you for critizing this government with reference to the project in St Johns(health centre) please tell me Ms Antoine, are you from the same party who spents thousands of dollars on the now abandoned pig farm in St Marks also tell me what about the same project your government started in St Marks which is still in limbo,Ms Antoine it is good to have a go with this government ,but where is the former minister for St Johns and why is he or she not making some noise on behalf of his or her parish, come to think of it, it is about that our people starts making some noise and demands that their members of parliment do more for their parishes instead of playing lip service , thank you.
