July 06th, 2009 SPICE MAS NEWS ASHEIDA WINS!! The 2008 Carnival Queen Miss Asheida Charles is the newly crowned Miss Carival 2009. The Miss Carival show forms an integral part of Carnival celebrations on neighboring island St. Vincent. Grenada last won this prestigious regional title 14 years ago when Miss Kelly-Ann Ross captured the title. In recent years Miss Samantha Haywood and Miss Nicole Seales have come very close to Miss Carival glory. However, on Friday July 03rd, Miss Charles brought the title back to Grenada with a stunning and arousing appearance. She won the best talent and best interview categories and the overall title. The efforts of several persons must be acknowledged for their efforts in making Asheida’s sojourn a successful one. Mr. Deleon Walters; not only is he an experienced and talented actor and comedian but his writing skills is probably now his greatest asset. He penned both pieces for Miss Charles talent here in Grenada in 2008 and at the Miss Carival show and well the results speak for themselves. Mr. Kirk Seetahal, Miss Gynette James (her Chaperone), the Grenada Carnival Committee and all the others who in some way or the other contributed to the undertaking must be commended. Miss Charles competed against Delegates from Venezuela, the Bahamas, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, Antigua and St. Vincent. Once again congratulations to this exceptionally talented young woman as her year-long reign begin. LIME SOCA MONARCH COMPETITION STARTS!
