Hillsborough, July 6th- It’s another demonstration of a commitment by the Government of Grenada to deliver more tangible services to the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. A Human Resource Development Centre, built through funds provided by the Grenada Rural Enterprise Project (GREP) was officially opened on Saturday, July 4th. The centre will host a variety of activities, especially for the people of the tri-villages of Belle Vue South, Belmont and Harvey Vale. Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs Senator the Hon. George Prime, who cut the ribbon to declare the centre open, said that it will bring direct benefits to the communities. He added that while government will be responsible for its upkeep, the community will be part of the management of the centre. Other speakers included Donessa Joseph, Community Development Officer of GREP. She noted that human resource development is the framework for helping individuals to develop their personal and organizational skills. The Human Resource Development Centre, which was conceptualized by BBH Youths on the Move was built by Uncle T's Construction from Carriacou, cost approximately US$204, 351. The opening of centre follows other recent moves to help the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, such as eliminating the need to travel to Grenada to obtain divers’ licences.
