SHERDEEN BUCKMIRE HEALTH UPDATE
Dear Community, The family of Sherdeen Buckmire extend our deepest gratitude to those of you who supported the July 11th, 2009 fundraiser party held in the fight against Shedeen Buckmire's brain tumor. A special recognition is paid to DJ One Drop and Crossroads Radio (105.5FM) who went above and beyond the call of duty and goodwill by rendering their services and equipment for free. The following are a list of special cotributors and donators who all made this event possible: Pam's Unisex Salon; Law Offices of Attorney Glenroy George; The Consulate of Grenada in New York; The Consular General of Grenada, Honorable Derrick James; The Grenada Mission to the United Nations; The Grenada Ambassador to the UN, Honorable Decima Williams; Tandi's Beauty Zone; DJs Super D, Joe Bailey and Conquest Sound; Marcus Garvey Center owner/manager, Dumaris; The Grenadian Connection website host, Neil Cummings; 96.7 FM Spice Radio; Cousin Bernadette Cornell and husband; Barbara and Desmond; Hermione and Eric White and friends; Terry's D'Islandz Restaurant; Cutie's Beauty Salon; Wendy and Devon Isaac; Century 21 Achiever's Realty; Irvine Simon; all of Shirley's former school mates and friends; Ritz Restaurant; West's West Indian Cuisine; The Green House; Lynn Forsythe and Wendy. All members of the genaral public who gave a donation and/or attended the event. Special thanks to Caribbean Distributors LLC and Happy's Liquor store who provided consignment. Currently Sherdeen is in Pediatric D6 South Ward of King's County Hospital in Brooklyn. She was readmitted on Monday June 29th, 2009 into Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Kings County. An MRI taken then, has revealed that the tumor did not respond to the treatment administered (radiation and chemo) but in fact has enlargened. After careful consultation between Sherdeen's parents and the team of physicians and specialists further chemo has been stopped. Sherdeen was transferred to pediatric general ward during the first week of July 2009. She would be returning to Grenada soon. We also extend our gratitude to the pediatricians, oncologists/hematologists, neurologists and nurses who contributed to Sherdeen's care at King County Hospital. Special thanks to oncologist Dr, Miller and pediatrician Dr.Eva. You did an excellent job and we know you care. Thank you all and please continue to pray for Sherdeen. Yours Sincerely, Shirley Modeste-Buckmire/Raymond Buckmire/Richard Modeste.
