Her Majesty The Queen was pleased to receive The Governor-General of Grenada and Lady Glean at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 14th July 2009 at 12.20 p.m. Her Majesty invested Sir Carlyle as a Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George (GCMG). Sir Carlyle, a retired Educator, was sworn-in as Grenada’s 5th Governor-General on 27th November – 2008, becoming the second person from the parish of St. John, to hold this high office. Sir Paul Scoon, having served from 1978 to 1992 was also from St. John. Sir. Carlyle succeeds Sir Daniel Williams who demitted Office on 18th November 2008 after having served for twelve years. In his address to Diplomats, nationals and well-wishers gathered at a reception to congratulate him, Sir. Carlyle stressed the need for “all of us, regardless of the position we hold, to strive to do the best we can and together help to build our nation”. Sir.
