ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, FRIDAY, JULY 24th, 2009_ Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas has asked for the resignation of Attorney General James Bristol following his acknowledgment of an “error in judgment” in writing to a United States Prosecutor for clemency for his stepson on the official letterhead of the Attorney General’s office. He has since received same. Prime Minister Thomas said while he regrets the circumstances, his decision was based on his commitment to keep his promises to the people of Grenada to restore high ethical standards, procedures, practices and integrity in public office. Mr. Thomas reaffirmed his government’s commitment to good governance and transparency in public office and respect for the independence of institutions. “On behalf of the government, I wish to thank Mr. Bristol for his contribution to Grenada over the past year,” the Prime Minister said.
