CABINET RESHUFFLE WILL NOT INCREASE GOVERNMENT SALARY C...

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, FRIDAY, JULY 31st, 2009_ The appointment of two Ministers of State with in the Grenada government to full ministerial responsibility, as part of the recently announced cabinet reshuffle, will not affect government’s salary bill. The Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, which reflects the annual national budget for each year, indicate that Ministers of State and Ministers occupying a full ministerial office, received equal pay since 1999. This administration is acutely aware of the difficult circumstances facing the Grenadian people and our economy at this time. Our changes, therefore, are intended to improve the efficiency of government operations, while keeping costs down. Efforts, therefore, to mislead the Grenadian public by those who have occupied these same ministerial positions in the past are nothing short of dishonest and shameful. Former Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance Michael Church is now the Minister for the Environment, Foreign Trade and Export Development while former Minister of State in the Ministry of Health has now assumed full responsibility for that Ministry.
