STOP THE HYPOCRISY!!!

I am going to get into the "meat of the matter" without any delay. Mr. Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas during your party's campaign you preached integrity, honesty, decency, transparency and respect for public institutions but I am at a lost today as to why you are you allowing your Government's GIS-TV to air Insp. Raymond Mathew / Calypsonian "Beast" performance at the Calypso Semi-Finals and Dimanche Gras? "Beast" is a high ranking Officer within the Royal Grenada Police Force, and you are not only the Prime Minister, but you are in charge of GIS and you're the Minister of National Security so what message are you, your Government, the Commissioner of Police and Inspector Mathew sending to the young people of Grenada and by extension the World? Mr. Prime Minister you and your party while in opposition had a field day beating up on Dr. Keith Mitchell for saying at one of his party's public rally "is me dam money". Mr. Prime Minister you yourself said on a radio programme with Glen Noel that "the Prime Minister (Keith Mitchell) ought to know that you don't use that type of language in public, especially standing as the Prime Minister of the country". So tell us now Mr. Prime Minister why are you condoning such practices by Beast? Mr. Prime Minister while Beast was singing you sat to the left of me in the sealed off VIP section grinning obviously enjoying the Police Inspector disrespecting the audience, Grenadians all over and even yourself. Where is Minister Glynis Roberts, the same Minister who has been calling on promoters, DJ's and night club to bring back moral in society? She is the same Minister who said that females are to be respected, but yet for all "Beast" was allowed to disrespect Mrs. Delma Thomas, Mrs. Emmallin Pierre, Mrs. Ann Antoine, Ms. Lyndonna and others not only once, but three times and to date we have not heard a word from her or even the conference of Churches who was so active against Keith Mitchell for saying "is me dam money" You people suppose to have sense. Now tell me, a Prime Minister saying "is me dam money" and an Inspector of Police telling the former Opposition Leader and other persons "Keep all yuh ass quiet" which one is worst? I wonder if an individual was to tell a Police Officer "keep his ass quiet" if that Officer would arrest that individual? My five year old daughter happened to walk out of her room at the same time while "beast" was singing on Television and she turned to me and asked "daddy why is that man who does dance on TV with the stick cursing on TV"? Now that alone speaks for itself. Mr. Prime Minister you and your Government needs to stop being a hypocrite and come out of the political closet and take a stance against the behaviour of Inspector Raymond "beast" Mathew and other Calypsonian for that matter who disrespect the Grenadian people. Grenadians are all aware that Beast, Scholar, Mr. X, Persuader, Biko, Sherene, Sour Serpent among others are NDC supporters, but that does not give your Government the right to allow some of these Calysonians to disrespect the Grenadian people. I bet If it was another Calypsonian that sang the same tune you and your bosses would have been all over the radio and TV blasting that Calypsonian. Mr. Prime Minister it is already bad enough that the decision made by the Governor General and yourself to continue Carnival on August 12th was overthrown by the Minister of Finance who decided it would continue on Saturday, August 15th. Don't let anybody rule you, wake up and take control of your Office and practice what your preached during your campaign. Grenadians were always aware of the two Cabinets and Mr. Bristol confirmed that recently, but the people of Grenada voted for one Cabinet who promised Integrity, Honesty, Transparency, accountability and most of all respect for public institutions. Greetings all and especially Mr Paul Gittens sir isometimes gets confused with some of the crap these NNP loosers comes out with, the problem with them is that theynow seems to be getting on this moral bangwagon stand yes these are the same people who squandered all the monies that came to grenada after ivan also their general conduct and behaviour when they were in office amount to dictatorial, their language especially that of their leader KCM was piggish so i am much supprised in the way they are now complaining and may be they should again be reminded that it is they who has set the trend of bad manners and rudeness which we now see on our beautiful islands and another thing grenadians please remember our great casio man the mighty sparrow who sang all sorts of rude songs so please you NNP people give freedom of speech a chance yes we have a duty to monitor bad language in our society from all quarters so please people give the beast a chance ,there are worst things happening in our country ,as for the writer of this column tell me where were you when the NNP was in power and were you as critical of their behavior as you are of this current government i await your reply .

Kiso Kiso and more Kiso let it rain down on them if they dont want to hear it then do good and good will follow you . Beast was not repsenting the Police on stage he was a calypsonian and a voter expressing his dicntent about the people who abuse the system and calypso will continue. I was well inform of the situation in Grenada because of the calypso that was rendered for 2009. like Black wizard said the calypsonian is the true spokeman of the land . perhaps Tilly may not be able to tell them so beast did what any vvoter will do express his dincontent. so tell them to keep their ----- quiet.

I am very sure that the youngest child in grenada know the "ass word." Do they have rules that calypsionans have to follow? If so then they should abide by it, but i really dont see a crime, calypso is basically about getting stuff of your chest isnt it? We have way more serious issues to deal with in grenada than that. And believe me the kids are hearing worse than "ass" at home so maybe better parenting and what they see on TV should be the main concern...Thanks

I am living in NY USA, actually in Brooklyn and I was able to listen live to the whole shows on Sunday night including the calypso show. I also was able to see Beast's performances via YouTube. I fail to see what was obscene in his presentations and his social commentary. So what if he even asks 'to shut you ass' what's vulgar in that? You vex because he hits all the spots?. So look friend just 'gwwan an shut up you ass'.(smile)... And did you not see his ass on stage? That's what calypso is all about, satire and puns, and leaving it up to the listener to put their meaning. As if you don't know those words. Where in his calypso were there any lies or untruths? Stop bellyaching, and move on. After 13 years of you all many Grenadians had gone back to hiding their birthplace .We were so ashamed of how we allowed all the corruption and blatant disregard for the Grenada masses. Let us regroup and start again. Let us restart the progress. Stop the pointing "Wha go, gone, but leh we doh mek de same mistakes, yeah?" We are still one people. One Love.

It is sad to say but our people continue to take two steps backward, the art form should be controversial and politicans should get the brunt of rebuke. As we at it i think we should revised some of the obscene language laws here, this bad word thing is a joke, hurting people feelings and annoyance,to me is primitive.I believe that we should enforce the violence laws and educate people so they will have morals and ethics therefore will respect each other. To nnp please take out that chip you are carrying it is over,it is more like what you can do for me now,i see the reason that Mitchell thinks that Grenadians are stupid, man wise up the train has left you.
