GRENADA: The one week long 2009 Mango Festival, organized by the Marketing and National Importing Board (MNIB) in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Grenada Food and Nutrition Council, climaxed last week Friday (August 21, 2009) with a grand exhibition/ magnificent extravaganza at the National Stadium. An impressive crowd, comprising children and adults, turned out at the stadium to look at the many varieties of mangoes found on the island and to see for themselves the myriad of uses to which this amazing fruit can be put, which included making mango breads, mango cakes, mango snacks and mango drinks and beverages. Information was readily available to the visitors at the fair and there were free mango give-away, quizzes, mango eating competitions and a panel discussion among other activities. Organizers of the 2009 Mango Fest are convinced that the objectives of the initiative were met and that the undertaking was a highly successful one.
