GRENADA'S OPPOSITION CONCERNED ABOUT LACK OF POLICE PRE...
From Kennedy Roberts, PRO, New National Party St. George's Grenada, September 10th, 2009: It is with concern that the New National Party (NNP) expresses its dissatisfaction with the level of interest shown by the Police Force in maintaining good community security during the series of public meetings being held around the country by the NNP. The meetings which started on August 18th and have been continuing every Tuesday and Thursday since then, have not seen the presence of one (1) uniformed police officer. The police were informed of the meetings as letters were sent to the attention of the Commissioner of Police on August 13th requesting that police presence be made available. Follow-up correspondence was also sent by the Chairman of the party on August 26th – these requests have obviously been ignored. During the tenure of the NNP, police protection was available for all public meetings regardless of party affiliation. The police should be more proactive in their service to the people, especially in light of their recent focus on the development of community security. They should also try not to let politics affect their ability to do a thorough job. The NNP calls on the Minister of National Security and the Commissioner of Police to look into this matter and do what they know is right to provide leadership in maintaining law and order in our country.

GRENADA'S OPPOSITION CONCERNED ABOUT LACK OF POLICE PRE...
Joe i so much agrees with your comments about HM opposition comment re police protection,i myself is concerned as to their motive in highlighting this issue and can remember a comment from their former minister for youth who is quoted as saying in the police officer spygate incident(remember the officer who was caught spying on the NDC gathering)saying that the officer was only doing his job so i ask this question why are they concern that there is no police or lack of them at their NNP gatherings, are they the NNP expecting trouble from the public and is concern that there is no police presence to protect them, so Mr Joe i totally agrees with you that when the NNP was in office grenada was run by crooks and money grabbers inside and outside of government and that they the NNP should be the last people to complain of none police protection/presence whenever they have their gatherings, our police officers should be out policing the beat arresting fraudsters and criminals.

The NNP folks are partly right "Do what they know is right to provide leadership in maintaining law and order in the Country". However, I visited Grenada during the NNP's Administration; in 2005 and saw young men in various sections of Grand Anse Beach at 3:00 PM smoking marajuana while Police Officers were standing about fifty feet away. That wes NOT LAW AND ORDER. It was quite embarrassing especially when our young ones and tourists were present. It seemed that smoking the weed in public was legal at that time. I don't think that the REJECTED NNP cared a bit about such lawlessness. I later learn that the REJECTED NNP PM went on radio and TV saying that we had no gangs. That's NNP law and order. They thought they were so perfect that they believed Grenada had no gangs. I can conclude that they never intended to put an end to such lawlessness since they didn't even admit that there was a problem. Maybe they were too busy selling out Grenada and filling their deep pockets. However, it was their d.. money.
