MARGINAL INCREASE IN PRICES IN AUGUST 2009  
From the Ministry of Finance ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2009: The inflation rate in Grenada, for the month of August 2009, increased by 0.24%. This was the result of a 1.07% increase in the price of fuel and light. Overall, compared to August 2008, the inflation rate has fallen by 2.08% largely because of a fall in the price of fuel and light for that period. Government is committed to do all in its power to combat the cost of living, especially as it relates to food prices. To date, its initiatives include: 1. Removal of the National Reconstruction Levy (NRL); 2. The Textbooks Programme; and 3. The Duty Free Barrels Initiative. The following table illustrates the changes in the major CPI groupings:
