GRENADA – During the course of last week, the people living along the River Road area in St. George’s were alarmed to see a fetus dumped in the river. News of this bizarre finding spread rapidly throughout the River Road community and soon a crowd of villagers, media workers, police officers and curious observers arrived on the scene to take a look at the unwanted fetus immersed in the water, close to the bank of the river. Persons at the scene, and later on, throughout the country became enraged at the ghastly sight and condemned, in very strong language, the action of the person who would have seen it fit to terminate a pregnancy and dispose of the still developing child in such a outrageous and heartless manner. Many were heard commenting on the need for women who are not yet ready for a child to abstain from sex, use protection or, giving the child up for adoption upon birth. The majority were of the opinion that if the ‘mother’ of the fetus was found, then she should face some sort of punishment to send a strong message to everyone that this sort of practice is not acceptable in a civilized country. The policemen at the scene took the fetus from the water and went away with it, hopefully to commence some sort of investigation into the matter.
