GRENADA: Quick work by members of the Fire Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force over the weekend resulted in a fire at the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School being brought under control quickly before it caused severe and substantial damage to the recently reconstructed building. The fire, which is said to have originated in the Principal’s office, resulted in a number of files and trophies being lost or damaged. Most of the items in the principal’s desk were destroyed. It is the third time that the authorities at the school have had to deal with major fires at the institution over the years. On one such occasion, a section of the school building was burnt to the ground and the school had to be temporarily relocated to another building while that section was rebuilt and the entire facility reconstructed to the tune of over one million dollars. The policemen are believed to be conducting investigations into the cause of the fire, but it is widely speculated that this could be a case of attempted arson.
