The people of the village of La Mode in St. Patrick’s were thrown into a state of shock over the weekend when a young man from the village, who was a former teacher of a secondary school in the parish, allegedly poured a flammable substance over his body and set himself on fire. The young man was said to have been a patient at the Mt Gay mental institution but was released and was receiving treatment at his home as an outpatient. It was also reported that he was taking his medication. He unfortunately succumbed to the flames.
