Just as the country was trying to come to terms with what seemed to be a bizarre suicide in St. Patrick’s over the weekend, the country was today hit with another tragedy involving the death of a popular local actor, comedian and employee of the Grenada Board of Tourism, Asquith Duncan.
Duncan, who resided at Old Westerhall in St. David’s, went missing yesterday and a search party of family and friends are alleged to have conducted a search of the area for him last evening without any success. This morning, however, they were hit with the terrible news that he was found hanging on a tree close to his home.
It is believed that Asquith’s death was as a result of asphyxiation caused by hanging. It is alleged that Duncan was on sick leave for a while.
Grenadians are fighting to make sense of the whole situation and, based on conversations taking place around the country, many people are wondering whether Duncan’s death is one of suicide or whether foul play was involved.
Duncan leaves to mourn a wife, two children, his parents and relatives. He was a founding member of the Heritage Theater and a member of two friendship societies, one of which is an association of students who studied in Cuba.
Grenadian Connection wishes to extend condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Duncan. He was a brilliant young man, a wonderful entertainer, a good family man and a very affable and upbeat individual who would have touched the lives of many people, in one way or the other, during his short lifetime. He will certainly be missed.
