ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8TH, 2009_ The Minister for Labour, Hon. Karl Hood is attending the Sixteenth Inter-American Conference of Ministers of Labour (IACML), in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The meeting will discuss a range of issues including the coordination of policies and programs for promoting employment and the role of the Ministers of Labour in addressing the current global economic and financial crisis. The meeting will also discuss the importance of strengthening social dialogue and social protection. In light of the current economic situation and its impact on employment, the conference has chosen the theme; “Facing the crisis with development, decent work and social protection”. “We are meeting at a time when the need for industrial harmony, tripartite coordination and understanding could not be greater. We must work together to weather this crisis and hopefully, come out stronger and more resilient,” the Minister said. In his absence, Sen. Glen Noel is the acting Minister for Labor, Social Security and Ecclesiastical Affairs.
