WHY THE CHANGE IN POLICY?
From the Opposition New National Party (NNP) St. George's Grenada, October 23rd, 2009: The New National Party is dismayed surprised and disappointed that no National Ecumenical or Interfaith Service is being held this year as has been the custom and as expected by the Grenadian public. On Thanksgiving Day commemorate on October 25th we see the need to acknowledge God Almighty and pay homage for His deliverance as a Nation. The question needs to be asked why is this change in Policy? Does the present Administration not acknowledge the hand of God in activities, is that an indication of the ideology of the Government and is this some sort of lead of where the Government is heading so far as religious doctrine and practice are concerned? What is the position of the Minister of Ecclesiastic Relations? The New National Party (NNP) calls upon the Conference of Churches, the Interfaith group and the Evangelical Association to respond to this unexpected and surprising turn of events.

WHY THE CHANGE IN POLICY?
Hi Joe the question you ask as to why the NNP keeps on about this religious interfaith thing is because they now is seeking heavenly penance for their wrong doing when they were in government and another thing we in grenada should not be fooled by all this nonscence coming from the nnp this is all a diversion and we should remember the pastor they brought from the states when they held that faith celebration at the stadium after they won their third term election.well on his return to the states he was arrested so people please dont be suprised by the NNP Faith thing they are only asking god for forgiveness for their wrongdoings one love.

IT IS TIME NNP STOP CRYING OVER SPILL MILK. THE PEOPLE HAVE LOST FAITH IN THEM . WHEN GOVERNMENT HAVE TO TELL US WHEN TO PRAY THERE IS A PROBLEM . CHRIST TELLS US TO PRAY IN SEASON AND OUT OF SEASON . SO ITS UP TO THE CHURCH TO DO JUST THAT ALL THE TIME. hOWEVER MOST OF THEM WHO ARE ASKING FOR THE PRAYER WAS NOT IN GRENADA THEY WAS ALL THE U.S.A TRYING TO DISRUPT THE GAINS OF THE REVOLUTION. GAINS THAT THE PEOPLE WAS WILLING TO DIE FOR . IF MURICE WAS ALIVE AND REGAN HAD INVADED THEN A LOT MORE PEOPLE WOULD OF DIE. SO MANY THANKS SHOULD BE GIVEN TO GOD FOR USEING BERNARD COARD FOR DELIVERING US FROM THE HANDS OF MURICE AND HIS GANG. SO LET US ALL PRAYER FOR OUR OWN SALVATION, BECAUSE IN THE END IT THE INDIVUDAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD THAT WILL MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.

Well said Jim; I agree. My question is, Why didn't the NNP ask Keith Mitchell's Spiritual Advisor to hold a big church service to celebrate the occassion? That would have made them looked very Godly. To those who were in captivity during the PRG regime, I surely feel your pain. I can understand how relieving it was to be rescued by the U.S. I would have jumped for joy if I was imprisoned and freed by anyone. I was also very happy to be freed from Austin's "curffu" (according to him). However, the Rescue Mission was not really a rescue Mission as far as the the United States is concerned. Reagan planned to invade Grenada shorthly after he came into office. Grenadians should not be fooled to believe that the U.S cared so much about us that they invaded just to rescue us. Thats never the U.S. policy. They will never make any effort to free poor folks especially people of African descent. Not even in New Orleans right here in the U.S. According to many Americans, the invasion was to free American students who were captives in Grenada and to run the Cubans out of Grenada. According to the American Educational show, "Jeopardy", Grenada was invaded in order to free the American students who were captured. We must always bear in mind that the United States will do whatever it takes to obtain their goal regardless of who live or die. The Iraq war is a typical example. The reason for that war changed like the weather; Regime Change, weapons of mass destruction, war on terror, battle for freedom, the war for democracy etc, etc. Which is correct? However, I am thankful that Coard and Butchers only had a short reign. My only regret is that they survived the war and are now free men and woman.

It would have been good for the government to declare it. But since when does any government have to tell the churches when to have service? Why does everything have to be political?
