click
From The Office of the Leader of the Opposition Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Keith Mitchell, has joined other cricket enthusiasts in extending condolences to the family of former test cricket umpire, David Shepherd, who passed away during this week. He described the late umpire as one who did his job without showing any sign of partiality and said that he is deeply saddened by his passing. Doctor Mitchell said that Shepherd, one of the greatest umpires of all times, was very friendly to all players, not only during the execution of his duties on the field, but also in his relations off the field and, as a result, he was well-loved and respected by cricketers of all nationalities. The Opposition Leader, who is also an ex-national cricket player and a lover of the sport, opined that Shepherd was always elected to umpire independent international matches because of his brilliant umpiring skills. He believes that Shepherd will be missed by many persons and that his contribution to the game of cricket will long be remembered. Shepherd died on Wednesday after a long battle with cancer.
