CG JAMES VISITS GRENADIAN PATIENTS IN NY

NEW YORK, November 10, 2009 - Grenada’s Consul-General of Grenada in New York, Hon. Derrick James is continuing to reach out to the Grenadian community in the Diaspora. The Grenadian diplomat has been attending meetings, engaging nationals in the diaspora as well as visiting those who are hospitalised. His most recent visits included retired Police Sergeant Cyril Dickson, who is recovering from a medical operation, and government employee Rachael Palmer who is receiving medical treatment at a New York hospital. The Consul-General expressed hope of their full recovery in this difficult time they are experiencing. He also conveyed get-well wishes to the two patients on behalf of the government and people of Grenada. Mr. Dickson has been attached to Her Majesty’s Prisons at Richmond Hill following his retirement from the Royal Grenada Police Force. Meantime, Mr. James has also been invited to be the keynote speaker at the Caribbean Unity Dinner and Awards ceremony at Nazareth Hall in Brooklyn, New York on November 22. The special guest of honour will be former West Indies cricket captain and Jamaica’s sports ambassador, Courtney Walsh. Also expected to attend are US congresswoman Yvette Clarke, NY State Senator John Sampson, NY State Assemblyman Nick Perry, and Deputy Brooklyn Borough President Yvonne Graham, along with fellow Consuls-General of the Caribbean. Grenada’s Cultural Ambassador Edson “King Ajamu” Mitchell is among the list of entertainers expected to perform. They include Glen Washington, Shyann Bailey and Susan Kennedy.
