November 13th, 2009: Parliamentary Representative for St. Andrew South North East Hon Roland Bhola says while the Opposition believes that the world crisis is affecting Grenada it is not the main reason why economic situation in Grenada is being described as catastrophic and is getting worse with each passing day. Bhola expressed this view when he joined Dr. Mitchell for a recent meeting with a visiting team from the European Union. The Opposition team noted that it was Dr. Mitchell who called for a meeting of the Heads of Governments of the Caribbean when the cost of a barrel of oil rose to $149.00 on the international market and when the cost of milk increase by over 200%. It was noted that the economic situation existed before the NDC assumed office. Bhola believes that the situation would have been far better than it is now if the NDC had taken a different approach to Governance and to Economic management. He explained that while the Government of Grenada is blaming the global Crisis for the situation Grenada is in, some countries in the region which could not have been consider to be doing better than Grenada before July 8th 2008, are now doing far better than Grenada on the economic front despite the economic crisis. The team drew the attention of the visitors to the significant opportunities for investment in Grenada that the NDC administration has thrown away Reference was made to Messrs. Peter de Savory and Lewis Hamilton who together would have invested over 1 billion dollars in Grenada. Hon Bhola pointed out that the Opposition has learnt that some of these investors are now investing these monies in other countries when the people of Grenada should have been benefitting. The Camper Nicholson project was also highlighted as another venture which was scaled down after the New Administration took office with the major component involving millions of dollars investment in a huge hotel project, relocated to St. Kitts. In addition, the Chinese Government has now decided not to invest over 18 million dollars in the completion of the National Stadium. Further, the Government has caused the 35 million dollars Greater Grenville project to be greatly delayed despite the fact that the NNP administration had everything in place to start the project. The Opposition believes that these and other golden opportunities were lost as a result of the irresponsible statements and decisions made by members of the Government and their surrogates and the people of Grenada are now the ones paying the price. The Opposition team reiterated its commitment to help build the country but says the Government must be willing to change its approach to Governance. OFFICE OF THE LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION

Hon Bhola sir having been a supporter of yours but not an NNP voter it now saddens me to read that load of bull shit your party constantly puts out. Mr Bhola it is with great saddness that once again your party is playing the sympathy card with our people ,you have made some comments/statements about the business ventures of both the lewis hamilton and peter de-savory projects and the part you say this government played in grenada not assisting these people to invest in our country, sir i now do hope your party will now explain to our people (1) what part your party played and how much of grenada monies was put down and lost by your then government and furthermore what about all the other projects your government was involved in which lost our people millions of dollars and about the chiness thing is what you saying the truth the whole truth and again what part did your government played in all this so i say please Stop misleading our people and tell them the real truth and stop blaming the present government because not everything in your ex government was rosey ,and it is about time the three of you in your party dump that man KCM and start backing grenada one love.

While Grenada, like most of the world is experiencing economic problems; and the NDC government needs to do something(s) fast to alleviate the negative effects on the populace (those who are affected). The Opposition just cannot and seems unwilling to come to accept the fact that they have LOST THE ELECTION. Rome was not built in a day; similarly Grenada was not fixed in the last 13 years under the watch of the NNP and it will not miraculously be fixed in a year and months.
