ST.GEORGE’S, GRENADA, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd 2009_ Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas, will lead a Grenada delegation to the Commonwealth Heads of Government summit in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, this week. The delegation includes the Prime Minister’s wife, Mrs. Sandra Thomas, Foreign Minister, Hon. Peter David, Advisor to the Prime Minister, Aaron Moses and Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Ministry, Mrs. Ann Isaac, among other government officials. The Summit is expected to focus on climate change, as countries prepare for the world summit in Copenhagen in December. The Commonwealth will also consider the expulsion of Fiji from and the reentry of Rwanda to the orgainsation of former British colonies. Prime Minister Thomas and the Grenada delegation are expected to meet with the leaders of India, South Africa, Britain and Canada, among other countries, in bilateral meetings designed to strengthen relations. The Prime Minister and part of the Grenada delegation leave this evening for Trinidad while the rest of the delegation will travel to Port of Spain tomorrow and Thursday. Minister for Finance, Hon. Nazim Burke, has been appointed acting Prime Minister.
