2009 INTER SECTOR 20/20 FOOTBALL  
The 2009 Inter Sector 20/20 Football Tournament commenced over the weekend at the National Stadium for the first time. Twenty four (24) converged last Saturday and participated in a number of competition matches. Teams were placed into four (4) groups with six (6) teams in a group. The Competition will culminate into a quarter finals, semi finals and final. The final is carded for Dec. 12, 2009. A total of 42 goals were scored on the opening night: Combined Insurances hammered Bankers 5-2 as Joel Greenidge scored a hattrick to lead his team to victory. Jason Thomas and Brendon Lewis netted a goal each to bring the tally to five (5) goals. Scoring a goal each for Bankers were Brent Thomas and Lindon Bubb. The match with T & Tech Interior Creations and Nixon Electrical produced a similar scorline. A double from Dwayne leo and Daniel Coutain sealed victory for T & Tech. The other goal came from the boot of Derick Joseps while Clinton Toussaint produced two amazing strikes converting them into goals for Nixon Electrical. Playing for the first time in this competition were the men from Country Cold Store. Well they too were hammered 6-1 by Electrotec. A hattrick from Kendon Calliste, a double from Ernest Campbell and Devon Neckles converting the other were more than enough to send Country Cold shivering. Rolando Cumberbatch could only manage a lone consolation goal. The power men did turned it on as Grenlec edged past Huggins 2-1 to claimed a much needed victory and give them a positive start. Antonio Mitchell and Alstead Edwards scored for Grenlec while the lone goal for Huggins came of the boot of Matthew Lewis. Former Champions in this Competition Seamen had a comfortable 3-0 win over Glovers Bistro. Simultaneously, the battle was on as Independence Agencies Limited had to play the best they could to create the slightest of margins of victory 2-1 over La Source. Lennard Mc Farlene and Akim Flemming both entered the scoresheet for IAL and Michael Neckles for La Source. What one would have considered to be a highly competitive match turned to be a one-sided affair as last beaten finalist Truckers blasted away Classic design Planning 5-2 taking all the points. Fancis phillip and Neilon Morain had a double while Kelon Samuel chipped in the fifth. Keyon Alexis netted both goals for planning. The match of the night went to Ministry of Finance and AC/DC Electric. The winner had to be decided on penalty kicks. The match ended with a 3-3 draw. Raymond Lewis scored twice and Ronnie Mitchell scored the third. A goal each from Kitwana Folkes, Lonnie Alexis and Edward Fedee was enough to send the match into penalty kicks. Fedee was involved in all three goals scoring one and assisted in the other two. The Tournament continues this Wednesday Night with all the 24 teams in action. Matches begin from 5 pm.
