ST.GEORGE’S, GRENADA, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30th 2009_ Grenadians residing in neighboring Trinidad and Tobago are willing to make a contribution to the development of their country of birth. This was the consensus coming out of a meeting with Grenadians living in the twin island republic and Prime Minister, Hon. Tillman Thomas, his wife and a Grenada delegation, on Sunday at the Grenada Consular, Tourism and Trade office in Port of Spain. In his remarks the Prime Minister spoke of the importance of the Diaspora to the enhancement of life in Grenada and called on his countrymen to use the Port of Spain office as a point of contact in making their contribution. “We want to harness the expertise and talents of Grenadians in the Diaspora to improve the quality of life for our country, whether you live in New York, Toronto or here in Trinidad and Tobago. I want to encourage you to use this office as a channel for your ideas and expertise,” the Prime Minister said. The activity was the Prime Minister’s final stop after a week in which he addressed the Commonwealth Business Forum, a grouping of major business corporations in the Commonwealth, and met with the leaders of various Commonwealth countries who were in Trinidad to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit. The Prime Minister also met with his counterpart from Denmark, Lars Lokke Rasmussen and the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to discuss climate change, only weeks prior to the global conference on the issue in Copenhagen.
