From the New National Party (NNP) The New National Party sees the Sun Wing fiasco as another embarrassment caused by the NDC Government. There is no excuse for the way this important inaugural flight from Toronto to Grenada was handled. For many years the NNP Administration worked hard to improve the image of this Country. The number of new airlines coming to the destination was unprecedented. This happened because we understood the importance of the Tourism Industry to the Economic development of the country and knew that it was imperative to show appreciation to our stakeholders. We view this recent inaction by the Government as another indication of their lack of leadership. NNP further view the recent suspension of the Director of Tourism for two weeks as a smoke screen and yet another way of the Government not addressing the issues (Typical NDC style). The country already knows that this present Director has never produced and this was the main reason his Contract was not renewed under the NNP. In true NDC style he was rehired after he campaigned for the Election of the NDC. NNP wants to know if this inaction by Government is because the discussions about this flight started under their Administration. Why is the Minister of Tourism so silent on this embarrassing issue? The Minister should know that the buck falls on her and she cannot shy away from her responsibilities. Flying all over the world for weeks is not how you manage a Ministry.
