January 29th, 2010: Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition, Dr. The Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell has extended congratulations to Hon. Denzil Douglas on his party’s reelection into office for the fourth consecutive term.
According to Dr. Mitchell, the overwhelming support received by Douglas’ Labour Party and the unprecedented mandate he received to govern the country amidst a global crisis is a clear indication of the confidence and trust that the people of St. Kitts have in his leadership.
He added that unlike the situation in Grenada almost two years ago, the people of St. Kitts understood the need to let progress continue. He said when the St. Kitts leader was referred to as Jonah; he reminded his people that they should not throw Jonah overboard and stop the progress.
The former Prime Minister in a telephone conversation with Dr. Douglas extended best wishes to him as he continues to lead the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Gabe, Grenada still maintain freedom of speech. Dr. Mitchell as a Grenadian and former Prime Minister has a right to express his opinions. I hasten to add he continue to be in touch with the people. He hears their cry and knows the pain they are feeling. For your information, he continues to assist many underprivileged persons who continue to visit him. Also it is common knowledge here in Grenada that senior planners from the NDC went to St. Kitts to campaign for PAM. What was even strange, the same campaign they ran in Grenada; they use in St Kitts. Yellow, yellow we voting yellow and their blasphemous song where they misrepresented the word of God -We throwing Jonah over board. Well they were able to fool the people of Grenada when they call Dr. Mitchell Jonah. The people of St Kitts were smarter than us, they did not buy into this blasphemy; but then again when they see what we are experiencing here in Grenada they were quick to send PAM and the NDC parking. I promise you though, we will never be fooled with such lies and propaganda again.

Some one should take the R.H.Dr Mitchell aside and remind him that about two years ago the people of our spice isle decided that they had enough of his government rightly or wrongly and voted into office this government i now therefore cannot understand why on one hand he congratulates the prime minister and the people of ST.KITTS for returning the labour party and hinting that they may be smarter than our people for as he calls it not returning his party to continue the progress, Mr Mitchell i think you need to apologised to our people for such a remarks and to remind you that our people had the same freedom of choice given to the people of ST KITTS to re elect or not to re elect our people decided not to re elect, and it was for you and your party to find out WHY our people had rejected your party at the last poll, and not hold the belief that our people/ voters made a big mistake in not re electing your party,Mr Mitchell if you are right only time will tell.
