GRENADA – The St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School (SAASS) in the Boys’ Division and the St. David’s Christian Secondary School (SDCSS) in the Girls’ Division lead the point standing after Day 1 of the Scotia Bank sponsored Inter-Secondary School' Athletic Championships 2010, held at the National Stadium on Wednesday March 24th. The two-day premier athletic meet showcases the top athletes in all secondary schools throughout the tri-island state. Day 1 was very competitive and whilst a clear winner seems to be already emerging in the Girls’ Division (SDCSS), the Male Division is extremely competitive and is clearly too close to call. The boys from SAASS seem to have a narrow lead going into Day 2 of the games over Westerhall Secondary School (WSS), the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School (GBSS), the St. David’s Christian Secondary School (SDCSS) and the Mc Donald’s College (MDC). Day 2 promises to be very exciting and highly competitive and all indications seem to point towards a hotly contested battle for the first spot in the male category which could be decided by the final race for the day, the 4x400 meters in the male category, a race that the boys from MDC – the reigning INTERCOL champs in the Boys’ Division - has been winning over the years. SAASS, GBSS, WSS and SDCSS may just have something to say about that today and no doubt would have developed strategies to enable them to emerge at the top. The winner will be the team that executes these strategies flawlessly or at least, most effectively.
