CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER ATTENDS CARIBBEAN HEALTH RESEARCH...  
ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, TUESDAY, APRIL 20, 2010 _ Grenadian Dr. Emma Herry-Thompson is among regional Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and other health experts attending the 55th annual council and scientific meeting of the Caribbean Health Research Council in Trinidad and Tobago. Dr. Herry-Thompson, Grenada’s CMO, is joining her colleagues in the week-long meeting aimed at shaping policy decisions on health research in the Caribbean. Among specific topics being discussed are: HIV/AIDS; the effect of school-based sexual education on adolescent sexual choices; ethnic patterns of prostate cancer; the effects of chronic intakes of a high sucrose diet on insulin; identification of diabetes in children from a mass urine screening; domestic violence and its health consequences; and measuring the burden of cancer. Before the assembly ends, participants will also elect a new chairman, scientific secretaries and other officers.
