MR. COLLIN FRANCIS STEPS DOWN AS POLITICAL LEADER OF GU...
click
July 19th , 2010 President and Members Grenada United Labour Party Dear Brothers and Sisters, GULP is certainly a dynamic, amazingly powerful organization, with its fundamental legacy engrained in the hearts of its followers. In fact I have learnt more about myself and the world around me from these last few years (4). I do hope and pray that the future of GULP remains a promising one. My love for its followers and philosophy will continue to abide deeply within my heart and would certainly shape my future contribution to Grenada. I have entered the fray of politics during a business meeting with Dr. Braveboy and Br. Nedd was present, it was Br. Nedd who started the conversation and enabled me to meet with Reynold Benjamin, the then Party Organiser. These last, almost four (4) years have been some rough roads but very rewarding. In fact I have absolutely no regrets, it was never by intention to get involve in active Politics at this stage , it was Benjamin who convinced me that I can make a contribution, I accepted willingly because it has been a dream of mine to serve after I have retired when I am financially and educationally sound. I thank these gentlemen, for affording me my greatest learning experience, that today has shaped my life in unforeseen and profound ways. The future of GULP is really in the hands of a few key people that must resolve the issues of the past and unite under one voice to take the party forward. The members have a critical role to play in the way forward for GULP. Its members must speak the same voice, seek to build each other, seek to protect each other, politics is made up of mere men trying to fashion a country. Absolute respect for its leadership is crucial, support is absolutely necessary. Men at all levels must commit to the same cause. If GULP is government in waiting then, we must behave that way. I must say I am grateful for all of you and the support that has been given to me! Br. Canning, Br. Hayes, Br. Norris, Sis. Langdon , Br. Cyphus and all other members who have given me support by prays and in your thoughts. The general public has given me tremendous support as well and I appreciate from the bottom of my heart. The job of Political Leader is not a difficult one for me, in fact is one I love and there is no question in my mind that I can lead this country and continue to give the Grenadian people, hope. I have a twenty five year plan for this country and do believe there is hope for Grenada. I do believe that one day this country will flourish and poverty will be vanquished and the voices of the people will be heard. I do believe that great men and women will rise up and take this country forward, men and women with clean hearts whose intention is to serve. However there are many intricacies that must be resolve in GULP if GULP should be in Government and the need for me as Political Leader to be more adequately prepared financially, educationally and otherwise. In fact I have since applied and awaiting my formal letter of acceptance ,to pursue a PHD in Industrial and Organisational Psychology at the Central Michigan University. My course of studies will take two and half years in the first instance. I also have a number of personal projects that I wish to do at this time that requires my time and would help me better prepare myself as a leader. I am currently in the process of publishing my first book by September of this year. Due to these fundamentals that I feel will allow me to be a better person and certainly a better leader that includes very importantly focusing on family and church. These time consuming personal ventures, necessary pre-conditions, as a leader, will incapacitate me at this present juncture to perform fully as Political Leader of GULP. It is important to mention that I am also managing the only Job Center and Employment Agency on the island , my only source of income at this time which has been suffering due to my preoccupation with carrying out the function of Political Leader. Therefore I am asking the executive to please accept this letter as a formal relinquishment of my Position as Political Leader of GULP , effective August 15th, 2010. Granting me this time will certainly in the future work in the best interest of GULP. I am prepared to continue to work, with GULP in any other capacity as the executives wishes. I am thankful for the optimism and opportunities afforded me as Political Leader and do hope that all will work well with the party in the interim and the future as well. May God Bless Grenada. Best Wishes --------------------------------- Mr. Collin Francis Political Leader

MR. COLLIN FRANCIS STEPS DOWN AS POLITICAL LEADER OF GU...

It's high time that our local businesses, churches, government officials, representatives of the constituency in which Princess Alice hospital is located, residents in surrounding communities do what the great American president Kennedy once challenged Americans on January 20th 1961 to do: "Ask Not What Your Country (Grenada) Can Do For You. But What You Can Do For Grenada." It's time we stop being selfish and begin to give back to our community. It's time we begin to care for those who have contributed in various ways to our country...be it on a small or large scale...poor or rich. The improvment of the hospital at Mirabeau is a collective effort and responsibility of every Grenada. I am very frustrated with NNP blaming NDC...NDC blaming NNP while the health of the people and wealth of the country further deteriorates/worsens. Let's stop this nonsense of pointing fingers, Dr. Mitchell...you and your NNP colleagues are as guilty, irresponsible, negligence, selfish...as much as NDC leadership and it cronies. Let's do something to better the health care and medical condition of the people; only then would the wealth of the country improve. They both work hand-in-hand. Our country is too small in size and population to not have an adequate health care system...you guys are deliberately neglecting the people and the well being of the state.

Bro. Joe, thank you so much...got mixed up with the names and really thought I had made the correction. I apologise you and other bloggers for the oversight...Winston White is the individual I am really meant to talk about Winston White, not our patriotic Unison Whiteman...Winston White should be totally barred from participating in any political party(ies) in Grenada...he's an opportunistic who would do anything get his way. Winston White and those who are bent on preventing our young, capable, effiecient and educated leaders should not be tolerated.

Damond, I agree with you but I believe you mentioned Unison Whiteman by mistake. Unison Whiteman was a very progressive Grenadian who accomplished quite a lot for Grenada in his few years in politics. Winston White on the other hand had accomplished NOTHING. I believe he jumped from party to party for a paycheck. A friend from Boca, told me that Winston White is a lazy man. I asked him why and his response was "because he never worked". He is not too old to find a job but NOT in Grenada politics. He didn't do crap during his decades with Gairy etc., therefore he lost his chance.

It's unfortunately to fathom the idea that some of our people, especially Gairyites who are so bent on forever holding on to the belief that only those older members who served under Gairy in the 60s and 70s should be allowed or are capable of effectively leading the GULP to a future victory at the poll. Winston White or any other person(s) of his time and age should not be allowed to participate in any political processes where the party is concerned. These guys should be forced and aliennated into permanent retirement. As we look back at their track records, can anyone identify what {Mr. Unison Whiteman} and those of his time have accomplished or done to improve the state of the country...if he and the older folk were so intuned iin the forward move, progresss and inclusion of every citizen of the land into the GULP movement, why didn't they collectively rally behind Mr. Collin Francis to ensure the party received support from the young and old, and attracted disgrunted and dissatisfied members from the ruling and major opposition parties...why Mr. Winston White...why are you trying to take the GULP to the grave with you...why would you rather/prefer to see the party fail if you're not its leader...isn't that self grandizement? Our country cannot move forward as long as we subject ourselves and fellow human beings to the "Crabs in the Barrel Mentality." Give the young, motivated, hardworking, vibrant, capable...leaders a chance to lead...you had your time...please give the young and productive Grenadians an opportunity to organize, mobilize the people to rally under a common cause to move the country forward! Gairyites, you must remember times have changed and we the people must move with the times. Fellow Grenadians, do not allow false allegations, especially when it involves a person's personal life to mislead you...the GULP under the young Bro. Francis' leadership was the right direction for us.

Though you have chosen to resigh for personal and educational reasons, I must say that Grenada needs young men like you who's not afraid to stand up for a cause. It's a pity you did not get the full support you needed-financial, emotional, social and physical...you've done your best. However, I firmly believe that in order for the GULP to regain soundness and notoriety again, the face, polical philosophy, fundamental beliefs, social stucture and mentality of the party must experience a radical change. The party must rid itself of those senior/Gairyites and/or those who were directly involved/served in top level positions during Gairy's era. The young people must be undersatand and given a chance to take the party to the next level. Bro. Collins, I clearly understand your choice to move on for better and higher training...it's not easily trying t change our a people whose minds and souls are so conditioned and subjective. Grenada once again has been depraved and brain-drained...we need young men like you to move the country into the 21st century. Good luck in whatever your you seek to pursue...hope many like you would seize opportunity to lead and effect change. Your contribution is surely appreciated and I'll be following you all the way. Your brother in mind and philosophy.
