St. George’s Grenada, September 30th, 2010 - The NNP has spent the past two years struggling to come to terms with the fact that they were rejected by the electorate. Their strategic objective is to now to make Grenada as ungovernable as possible. Despite their many efforts, they have failed miserably in their attempts to shake the confidence of the people in the leadership of the National Democratic Congress. Yet, they continue to create mischief. Their attempts at misleading the nation continue on a daily basis and they are now scraping the bottom of the barrel with their false accusations and use of their minions to smear the character of others. Yesterday, the Leader of the NNP became more ridiculous in a letter to Prime Minister Thomas proposing that he: • “Set up a Commission of Inquiry to conduct an investigation into the allegations made against the Minister of Finance; • Relieve the Minister of Finance from his present position during the period of investigation so as to allow for the investigation to be carried out with fairness and impartiality.” Under what stone was Dr. Mitchell hiding when the many inconsistencies in the obviously fraudulent documents were exposed by Hon. Nazim Burke himself as well as the Head of FIU, Insp. Senneth Joseph on Sunday last on the popular ‘Sundays with George Grant’ programme? And why now, when one year ago he knew of the allegations when they were exposed as the fraud they are, by the very same Nazim Burke in Parliament? Is that the same Keith Claudius Mitchell who remained in office as Prime Minister while the Commission of Inquiry into the “Briefcase Affair” took place? An inquiry which, though imperfect and to which he failed to give evidence, ruled that it was, “simply demeaning of the office and unacceptable that the Prime Minister should be receiving cash from Resteiner or anyone else.” (Page 64, Cheltenham Report). That was cash which Dr. Mitchell himself admitted to having received. Are you trying to tell us that the Cheltenham ‘Briefcase’ Inquiry was not “carried out with fairness and impartiality” because you remained in office? Dr. Mitchell, you are the one who is being an embarrassment to the nation and who needs to resign from politics and save Grenada further embarrassment. As the NNP holds their General Council this weekend, we call on their leaders to come clean with the people and tell Grenadians a few TRUTHS. We are tired with the LIES. Tell the people the truth about the giving away of the Grand Beach property to Lewis Hamilton ONE DAY before the General Election. Admit to the people that you recklessly gave away Grenada’s best beach front property. Tell them that Anthony Boatswain signed the Agreement although there was no final agreement by Issa Nicholas to sell the property to Hamilton. Tell the people that Hamilton’s group could not drive a stroke without an agreement with Issa Nicholas and as such there was no “project” which was stopped. Tell us what the rush was on July 7th. Is it because you knew you were on the verge of being dumped by the people the very next day. Tell the people about the “Keith Mitchell Educational Trust” of US$ 1 Million which was for the education of needy Grenadian students. Tell us who benefitted and who the Trustees are. Tell us what was done with the money. Explain why Cabinet directed the MNIB to invest 11 Million dollars with crooks although Cabinet was advised not to do so. Tell the people who really benefitted because Grenadians did not get as much as a ripe fig from it and now MNIB has to repay the loan. 11 Million plus interest! And while at it, explain the logic behind the Garden Group investment as well. We need to know. There are many more; the Call Centre, the Chicken Farm, the Grenada Airports Authority Loan and yes, the Briefcase – the Resteiner Affair – which your letter to the Hon. Prime Minister brings back to mind. Keith ‘Meh dam Money’ Mitchell, Anthony ‘IDC’ Boatswain and Gregory ‘Oil Slick’ Bowen presided over the destruction of the Grenadian economy. The “3-men-does-benefit” they enjoyed was at the expense of the economy. Today the National Debt has strangled our economy and poses serious challenges in the way of the government. This tremendous benefit was engineered with the full support of their equally crooked Economic and Political Advisors who are now all over the media and trying to talk as authorities on the economy; but the people have not forgotten them. The Grenadian people have rejected you, so wake up and face that reality. Integrity is being restored, there is hope once more and Grenadians will continue to work together to build the country. The Grenadian people will make sure that we never again experience the destructive ways of the NNP. As you sit down in general council you should reflect on ways you could become a useful political opposition. For example tell the nation of your economic blueprint for developing Grenada. People cannot hold their breath any longer. What really are your alternative plans? All the people know of what the NNP did during their thirteen long years in power and that record stinks. The dark days of NNP and corruption has ended.
