ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA - Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas has challenged students at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School (SAASS) to adhere to a value system that will help build character and a successful career. The Prime Minister in a visit to the school this morning encouraged the student body to underpin their academic education with a positive attitude, respect for others and a determination to stay away from things that are harmful to their physical development. “All your concentration at this time must be on ensuring you get the best education possible but a positive attitude is also critical to your future. You must be concerned about the choices you make and the company you keep,” the Prime Minister said. He called on students to find solutions to problems without resorting to violence. “We must, as a community, find ways of solving our problems peacefully. We must show tolerance where there are differences. No one wins when we resort to violence, the victims are left injured and the attackers are left with a disfigured reputation,” the Prime Minister told the students. The Grenadian leader congratulated the school for its performance in academics, athletics and in the Drum Corps. In response to questions from the students and his observation of students sitting outside to accommodate assembly, the Prime Minister noted the need for the expansion of the physical facilities, to meet the needs of the school’s growing population. Prime Minster Thomas also visited the St. Andrews Anglican Primary School in Grenville, where he had a similar message for the students. He urged them to pay attention to their teachers and stay in school. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Hon. Patrick Simmonds, who is a former Principal of SAASS and the Member of Parliament for St. Andrew South East. From The Office of The Prime Minister
