ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, Tuesday, December 14, 2010: The Ministry of Finance, through the GEF Operational Focal Point in Grenada, will host a one and a half days workshop on “Identification of Country Priorities for the fifth round of funding of the Global Environment Facility (GEF-5)” on December 16th and 17th 2010, at the Grenada Red Cross Building on Lucas Street, St. George. Under the GEF-5 programme, Grenada will be allocated grant funding to support the work in the areas of environment protection and conservation. The overall aim of the workshop is to identify the GEF-5 National Priorities for 2011 and ensuing years. The specific objectives are: 1. To identify the priority themes and/or geographic areas for project development and implementation during GEF-5; 2. To develop realistic conceptual models and practical results matrices for each priority/geographical area; and 3. To identify elements of sustainability, resource mobilization, and knowledge management strategies for the Big, Medium and Small Grants Programmes (SGP) during GEF-5. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Reynold Murray, Programme Manager, Energy, and the Environment, UNDP (Barbados and the OECS); Mr. Giles Romulus – Sub-regional Coordinator GEF SGP; and Ms. Tracy Phillips of the UNDP (Barbados and the OECS). An integral component of the Workshop will be the National Presentations on each of the four focal areas for Grenada.
