ISSUANCE OF RECIEPTS/VAT INVOICES  
ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, MONDAY DECEMBER 20, 2010: All VAT Registrations are being reminded by The Value Added Tax (VAT) Unit of the Ministry of Finance, of their obligations (under the Value Added Tax Act, 2009) to issue receipts to every customer to whom a sale is made. A VAT invoice or Sales Receipt must contain the following information as prescribed by the Act: · The name, address, and TIN of the supplier (or vendor who is making the sale) · The serial number of the VAT invoice/ receipt and the date on which it was issued · A description of the goods and services supplied, including the quantity, volume or period where applicable · The total consideration or monetary value for the supply (including VAT) · The amount of VAT charged · The name, address, and TIN of the recipient where applicable The VAT Unit is urging the general public and taxpayers to request their receipts when making purchases particularly during the Christmas Season. The Unit is encouraging Taxpayers to continue to be vigilant and to report any discrepancies to the VAT Unit at Telephone Numbers 435-6945/46 or Hotline 435-9085.
