GRENADA GOVERNMENT SEEKING AN END TO INDUSTRAIL IMPASSE...
ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, 6 JANUARY, 2012_ Prime Minister Tillman Thomas continues his efforts to bring an amicable end to the industrial impasse at the Grenada Breweries Limited, with a meeting on Saturday of some of the leading business, religious and NGO community in Grenada. The Prime Minister said Friday, that the ongoing impasse, if allowed to drag on, can have a devastating impact on the Grenadian economy, which for the first time since the global economic meltdown, is showing growth. Representatives of the Grenada Employers Federation (GEF), the Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GCIC), the Grenada Evangelical Association, the Grenada Conference of Churches and a number of non government organizations have been invited to attend the Saturday morning meeting. “We understand the possible impact that industrial action can have and is having on our country just as we are beginning to see signs of economic recovery. We must do all in our power to ensure that this impact in minimized by getting the workers back on the job and the manufacturing capacity in Grenada is restored,” the Prime Minister said Friday. Mr. Thomas called on all sides to “let good sense prevail”; suggesting that the prolonged industrial impasse at the Brewery can also impact small businesses which sell the company’s products to sustain the livelihoods of many families. He called on both sides to appreciate and respect each other’s contribution to the country.

Johnny B Good, I totally agree with what you and Stallion are saying. As Minister of Security, Tillman Thomas must be brief and issue an order to have someone of such profile monitored or arrest if he/she are in violation of the law. But for our PM and minister of security to publicly say that he did not know of the arrest, then something has got to be wrong somewhere. Is Prime Minister Thomas trying to tell us that there could have been a a revolution or sudden overthrow while he was asleep? His he trying to tell us that the RGPF commissioner and the members of Gang 17 could taken over the country while he's asleep? Where were his advisers in all this? What does he have Aaron Moses and others doing in his office? I really think something has got to be going on behind the scene that we're not aware of. The arrest of the main union leader in the country should not and cannot be equated to that of a fowl thief.

i don't see why tillman has to explain why he didn't know of the arrest.maybe he is right,he didn't know.and that is why i have been saying all along that we have a weak prime minister who has asses on his team.somebody, his advisers or the commissioner of police should have briefed him before and after the arrest.when is tillman going to wake up and do the right thing and clean house?

It's amazing that our PM and Minister of Security Tillman Thomas has yet to explain to the Grenadian people why he's not aware of the RGPF arrest of the Union Leader. Is our PM still asleep at the will? I hope the workers will continue to hold out on their demands. The less beer and alcohol beverages we have to sell, the less likelihood our people would continue to suppress their social and economical grievances. Alcohol is a suppression drug. The more a person drinks, the lesser his chances of seeing what is actually happening around him. We need to give our government a chance to feel the pressure and recognize the need for change, politically, socially, educationally and economically. Mr. Union Leader, may you continue to stick it out.
