TWIN ISLE PARISH PREPARE FOR INDEPENDENCE  
Hillsborough, Carriacou, January 13, 2012- An independence health walk will kick of activities in Carriacou for the celebration of Grenada’s 38 year as an independent nation. On Thursday, January 19th, the Carriacou and Petite Martinique Independence Committee is calling on citizens to join them on a health walk commencing in the town of Hillsborough at 4:30p.m. The walk is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle. Chairman of the Independence Committee Harrison Fleary says the participation of all citizens in the independence activities is important and calls for all to come out, dress in the national colours with pride and dignity. A new event has been added to the list of activities, National Independence Speed Day. This will involve the playing of a number of sporting activities at the Hillsborough Recreation Ground on Sunday, January 22nd. This year’s independence church service will be held at the Hillsborough Roman Catholic Church on Sunday, January 29th. The parish celebrations for the sister isle of Petite Martinique will be on the 30th of January while Carriacou will stage theirs on Wednesday, February 1st, with the celebration taking place in the afternoon at 3p.m at the Hillsborough Recreation Ground. The activities will be celebrated under the theme, “ Breaking all barriers, striving for greater achievements under one flag.
