MAREP RESULTS IMPACT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (RIMS) BASELINE...
The Market Access and Rural Enterprise Development Programme (MAREP) is a six year Programme (2011-2017) funded by the Government of Grenada (GOG), and loan financing from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and in-kind contributions from beneficiaries at an overall estimated cost of US$8.5 million. MAREP’s goal is to reduce rural poverty through a number of approaches, particularly through training/human capacity building and enterprise development in agricultural and non-agricultural programmes and activities. MAREP’s main objective is to increase the income of rural young unemployed or self-employed men and women in 50 rural communities in Grenada and Carriacou. MAREP is currently in its 10th month of implementation since its start-up in April 2011. In order to evaluate and improve the income of rural young unemployed or self-employed men, women and other vulnerable persons in 50 rural communities in Grenada and Carriacou, it is important that MAREP conduct a RIMS Baseline Survey. This impact survey is necessary to measure throughout the duration of the project the progress, outputs, outcomes and impact of MAREP and to use this information to feed into the national policy framework on social and economic development as it relates to poverty reduction, rural development and contribute towards Grenada’s achievement of the relevant Millennium Development Goals. The objective of the Baseline Survey is to assess activities carried out in the households that contribute to the improvement of the social and economic conditions of resource poor and vulnerable households and small-scale producers as it relates to MAREP and RIMS Logical framework. It is also to assess critical information required to guide MAREP interventions and to assess MAREPs progress and impact over the next five years. The RIMS Baseline Survey will target at least nine hundred (900) households below the poverty line in fifty (50) rural communities in Grenada and Carriacou. The 50 Communities will be selected from the seven Parishes; - St. Patrick, St. Mark, St Andrew, St. John, St. George’s (Rural), St. David’s and Carriacou. The advertisement for Consultants to conduct the Baseline Survey was advertised in November and December 2011 and MAREP is in the process of reviewing the proposals received in accordance with IFAD Procurement Guidelines. The RIMS is expected to be conducted in the first quarter of 2012.
