TEAM GRENADA HEADS TO ST LUCIA'S DRAG WARS
St George's, Grenada April 4th 2012: Local drag racers packed their cars into containers as they set off to participate in what is termed one of the most highly anticipated drag racing events for 2012. The third annual 'Drag Wars- The Redemption' event is carded for Saturday April 14th and Sunday 15th, 2012 at 'The Base' in Vieux Fort, St Lucia. Competition in 15-seconds to 9-seconds brackets and open class races will see street and full-bodied race cars from Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada, St Vincent & the Grenadines, St Kitts & Nevis and host country, St Lucia. Heading the Grenadian Team with the fastest car on the island is Alan McIntyre and his V8 powered Ford Mustang known as the 'Sledge Hammer'. McIntyre is no stranger to the drag racing sport and has represented his Country twice in St Lucia, twice in Antigua & Barbuda and numerous times in Trinidad & Tobago. With a newly rebuilt motor, spectators can expect nothing but single digit passes and a few wheelies down the quarter mile. McIntyre has always been proven to be a keen contender when there's stiff competition. He will be the man to beat in the 9-seconds bracket. "I am very anxious and excited to return too St Lucia for competition" says McIntyre. His personal best time in the quarter mile is currently 9.5-seconds. Also representing Grenada at Drag Wars is the 'Monster EVO' driven by local automobile tuner and racer, Joshua 'JL-Tuning' Lewis. After weeks of tweaking his MicroTech computer, Lewis is all pumped for achieving a personal best time at St Lucia in his highly modified Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III. His years of racing combined with knowledge and tuning is what will make him victorious in the 11-seconds category. "I love racing and I'm very excited to be representing my country once again at this event. I hope that Alan and I can return home with 1st place trophies after the race" says Lewis. The Team will be leaving for competition in St Lucia on the morning of April 13th, along with some ten Grenadian supporters for this international drag racing extravaganza. Persons interested in sponsoring the Grenada Team can contact Ravi Benjamin - 444-4533 / 409-2882 or Nazim Benjamin - 443-2769 / 405-2769
