BIRCH GROVE BRIDGE RE-OPENING
The Ministry of Communication, Works and Transport is pleased to announce that the new Bridge at Birch Grove is open to traffic effective today, Friday, February 6. The Ministry requests that drivers exercise caution as the Contractor still has some minor drainage work to carry out at the site. This bridge is part of the work carried out on the road from Grenville to St. George's via Grand Etang, which is part of the $30 million Fisheries and Road Rehabilitation Project funded by the Government of Japan. The Project also includes the widening of the St. Cyr Bridge, which has been completed, while the new bridge at Balthazar is expected to be open to traffic in about a week's time. The new Vendomme Bridge is expected to be completed by the end, while the final asphalt pavement will be placed at the Hit Me Easy hair pin curve by the end of February. An official opening and dedication ceremony will be scheduled in the near future.
