GRENADA TRADE PORTAL TO BE LAUNCHED|
The Trade Division of the Ministry of the Environment, Foreign Trade and Export Development will officially launch the “Grenada Trade Portal” on Thursday, June 14, 9:00 am, at the Flamboyant Hotel, Morne Rouge,St. George’s. The Grenada Trade Portal (GTP) is the main trade information tool for the development and implementation of the National Export Strategy. It will provide manufacturers and exporters with an additional avenue to access export market information and to advertise their products to local, regional and international markets via the internet. The website aims to link potential exporters to new markets and provide timely trade data and information on new trade opportunities. GTP forms part of an Action Plan of the National Export Strategy which also includes The Grenada Bureau of Standards Quality Management Project and the recently launched ASYCUDA World of the Customs Department. All of these initiatives are funded under a US$ 2.7 million Grenada Technical Assistance Credit (GDTAC) project. The Government of Grenada has entered an agreement with the International Development Association (IDA) towards the financing of the (GDTAC) project. (GDTAC) project is aimed towards supporting the Government of Grenada in improving the environment for private sector led growth through the modernization of key public sector institutions and the implementation of an export strategy. One of the mandates of the Ministry of the Environment, Foreign Trade and Export Development is the execution of the National Export Strategy, which is an attempt to address the shortcomings of previous export development programmes.
