GRENADIAN EXPRESS CONFIDENCE IN THEIR GOVERNMENT
ST.GEORGE, GRENADA, 9th JULY, 2012_ The “massive” turn out of Grenadians to the Government’s 4th anniversary rally on Sunday in Gouyave, St. John, is evidence that people understand and appreciate the government’s efforts to build the Grenada economy and that the Prime Minister enjoys the support of the Grenadian people in the face of current challenges. Richard Simon, Press Secretary to Prime Minister Tillman Thomas said Monday that the “impressive gathering,” which police estimated at 4,500, was a necessary boost to the government, which is focused on improving the living standard of all Grenadians. “The importance of this re-engagement cannot be overstated. This amounts to a rallying point for thinking people who are keeping abreast of the global economic difficulties and the resulting impact on our country. Sunday’s rally was a significant source of encouragement and inspiration in a very difficult period,” said Simon. “What it showed is that despite the external and internal challenges, there is still confidence in the government which remains committed and focused on the task of development and to the ideals that got it elected in the first place,” he said. The Press Secretary noted that the maturity displayed by the audience, which stood through close to five hours of speeches and presentations, indicated that “people did not just come to have a good time” but out of a genuine desire to hear from their representatives in government, on their stewardship over the past four years and their vision for the way forward. The rally also painted a picture of a common agenda in the face of recent actions by former members of the administration. Gouyave showed that the public is ready to move forward with a government that can, together, take the country to a new level of development with Prime Minister, Tillman Thomas at the head,” the Press Secretary said.

GRENADIAN EXPRESS CONFIDENCE IN THEIR GOVERNMENT
mr simon give us some figures, this flowery talk does not full anyone. unemployment is out of control . 50% of the under 25 are unemployed. the government is simply following a failed colonial policy just like the past government we need a plan for radical transformation of our sectors. the emphasis has to go into manufacturing and secondary processing. to do this we have to follow the path of trinidad and devalue our currency. lets get out of the oces it only favours the already developed islands. we cannot keep doing the same failed policy and expect a different result. this is the policy of the thoughtles.

CFleming i also agrees with you but would go as far as to say that the road ahead is still slippery with banana skins and some of these banana skins are within government doing their best to destablise the little progress that is being made yes the road ahead is still rough and there is a lot more that has to be done like (1)more open transparency and accountability in and out of government,(2)ministers should discuss and debate important issues in government/chambers and not behave like robin hood putting out stories that were not sanction by cabinet office, yes there is a long road still to travel and we should forever be reminding government of their promise to get us off this mess left behind by the previous administration and the down turn by the world recession. one love.

Great to hear of the support given to the government for the work and dedication to help rebuilt the economy and put the island on its feet.
