Grenada's World Champion 400 meters runner Kirani James began his quest for an Olympic gold medal this morning. James clocked 45.23 to win heat 2 of the event and move on to the next round.
Defending 400 meter champion Lashawn Merritt of the United States crashed out of the Olympic Games after pulling up in his heat with a hamstring injury.
