TURN DREAMS INTO ACTION
There is a call by Environment Minister, Hon. Glynis Roberts to turn environmental dreams into environmental action. The Minister, who recently represented Grenada at a Marine Environment Management forum in South Korea said, “Grenada has been chair of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) and the growing concerns of climate change and climate adaptation should put into perspective the actions that should be taken in protecting our environment”. Hon. Glynis Roberts emphasized garbage disposal as another critical area that needs much attention especially along the coast. “Sorting and composting of garbage are practices that need to be adopted. It’s all interconnected,’’ Roberts said. “If we do things that are unhealthy for the sea life it means that our fish stock and reefs will struggle. We have a great responsibility as small islands; because of our coastal and marine life, we need to do what we can and explore ways to protect our natural resources”, she explained. In response to the minister’s call, the Ministry of the Environment will be collaborating with the community of Grand Anse in a drive to replant coconut trees along Grand Anse Beach. Minister Roberts, who is also MP for the area, is spearheading the activity aimed at protecting the beach from further erosion, and in promoting the therapeutic ambience and experience of the beach. She said most of the trees that existed on the world-renowned Grand Anse Beach fell during hurricanes in 2004 and 2005 and must be replaced. The Minister, however, noted that to make an impact and achieve the community’s target for the replanting drive, more coconut plants are required. Hon. Glynis Roberts has appealed to the public to donate to the tree-planting effort which will take place on the last Saturday in August, noting that the tree replanting drive would continue throughout the island. Protective wires for the trees are also welcomed to lengthen the plants’ lifespan.

TURN DREAMS INTO ACTION
Ms Roberts it was only a month or so ago when you came back to grenada after making representation in the global climate change forum gathering and your report was an excellent one where you went as far as to say to grenadians that more concerns should be place by grenadians in looking after that little beautiful islands of ours but no sooner the ink was dry on the paper then the bombshell the lady resign and thats why i trully believe that these backbenchers all along had an agenda because in no way if one ask me this lady did not know her intention before she went on this climate change conference and this is my question was the renegrade backbenchers gathering information from foreign countries/governments in other words like cats living their scent behind for when the day comes they believe that they will be the ministers running the country for example Church and the reason he was sacked,David ,Gilbert,Hood was foreign secretary,Gill ,and now Roberts, yes it all smell fishy yes they have been planning this rebellion for some time while they were out on government business ,check this out Littleboy and Bro.Stallion.

Minister Roberts congrats on your recent visit to South Korea as the chair of the (AOSIS) and i see that you came back with an action plan, calling on our people to take more care in our environment for example the planting of more Trees, and that more care and attention be given to our sea and plant life, minister while i do agree with you i also trully believe that Government also has a responsibility to do more in protecting for example our Beaches and Rivers (take Bathway Beach for example)a lot more can and should be done to clean up this area and why is the Government not employing the unemployed to do some of the work because several of our Rivers are in a dreadful state with large boulders (stones) and large dead logs which can result in our rivers overflowing whenever there is a heavy rain storm, also we should stop the removal of sands from our beaches.Minister Roberts action speaks louder than words and what is needed is action so lets get our people back to work and involved them in cleaning up our environment because it is our environment, our Beaches, our Rivers, our Trees ,our Country.
