100 LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS FROM NEW YORK ARE EXPECTE...
NEW YORK, September 12, 2012 – About 100 law enforcement officials from New York are expected to visit Grenada in the summer of 2013. The officers, who are members of the Caribbean Law Enforcement Association (CLEA) of New York, have chosen Grenada to visit in August 2013. A six-member delegation will visit Grenada next week to meet with members of a local organising committee headed by Superintendent Godfrey Fleming, and other members of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) who deal with incidents of Domestic Violence. The visiting delegation is also expected to visit hotels, meet with Commissioner of Police Willan Thompson and host a media briefing before departure. CLEA is expected to discuss the introduction of a programme called “The Clothesline Project” to Grenada in November. This programme, which has been successfully launched in other Caribbean islands, is intended to curb instances of Domestic Violence. The organisation is also interested in conducting a football coaching clinic with possible scholarship opportunities. The Caribbean Law Enforcement Association is a not-for-profit organisation, whose members consist of Law Enforcement personnel ranging from Police Officers, Law Enforcement Support staff, and other Professionals. One of the goals of the organisation is to support and foster the growth and development of the Caribbean and Caribbean–American communities towards their full potential. By Michael Bascombe

domestic violence must not be tolerated in any society.as a society let us start with earley childhood intervention to ensure that all children are treated with love care and respect. children who are abused, and sometimes the abuse are happening behind closed doors in the most respectable families, tend to be unable to resolve conflicts with speech. these children becomes adults who resolve preblems with brutal violence.in the mean time the government, churches, and organizations should host intervention forums aimed at reaching the high rist adults with violence tendencies towards their love noes.

Thats a good start but let us remind our selves that the recent level of domestic violence we have had in our country resulting in the lost of lives is way beyond acceptability and what is needed is for our law enforcers and Government to deal with these domestic abusers/offenders in our country, because as i have said before some of these doestic abusers are cowards and believe that it is the man/woman thing to do to each other including abuse against children and the time has come for re-educating our people that domestic violence in what ever form is unacceptable in our community and in our country and should be dealt with punishable by a term of imprisonment.
